In this week, Analyzing Evil, I would like to bring you a special case, which will make you uncomfortable and question yourself: “Do we need to double-check on the person with a pretty face?” That’s right. I will talk about evil behind a handsome face. You may have heard of him. Cameron Herrin, 24 years old. He committed a horrific crime at a very young age. He was 22 at that time. He should have been in college or had a good life right now. Instead, he is spending time in prison and will not be released until he finishes their prison sentence. There is no way that you and I can imagine that Herrin could commit murder at a very young age like that.

Cameron Herrin drove his Mustang and hit a 24-year-old woman, Jessica Reisinger-Raubenolt, and her 21-month-old baby, Lillia while speed racing. Jessica died immediately at the scene, and Lillia died a day later. There is no other pain greater than losing the family at the same time like that. The husband suffered from this pain a lot. And my console is to him. Herrin was sentenced to 24 years in prison. But it is not the end. Herrin has a handsome face, like coming from Michelangelo’s piece of work. If Herrin had not committed this horrific crime, he would have been a model or an actor.
His face has gotten the attention of so many people, especially girls. He is so handsome that he steals the hearts of many girls who want him to be released because he is too handsome to be in prison. That’s right! You didn’t hear it wrong. They want him to be freed. With that pretty face, spending time in prison for 24 years will be such a waste. I am sick of all kinds of campaigns they run on social media to release Herrin. I can understand why. First, he is too handsome. Second, he is white. If he was black, I am sure the sentence would have been higher and no campaign.
What went wrong with the society? Since when did we begin to sympathize with a criminal who killed two people? To those who believe he should be released or reduced the sentence, imagine what if the victims he killed were your family members? I bet that you cannot forgive what Herrin did. Two people died for no reason. Herrin wanted to appeal this sentence, but the court rejected it. Herrin is serving time in prison, and I hope he will learn a big lesson. After 24 years in prison, he will be 48 years old. Until then, let the sentence of conscience suffer him deeply.
