Lady Tremaine: The Real Evil Stepmother

For a long time, the image of a stepmother has been nailed with the evil and the crucial that they can bring to their stepchildren. They never love husband’s children and always favor their children. They mistreat their stepchildren, even they want to kill them. There are so many murders from the stepmother who killed their stepchildren for ridiculous motives. The image of a stepmother can be seen clearest through a Disney character that robbed the heart of many audience because she is beautiful and yet, evil. Lady Tremaine from Cinderella.

Cinderella was a beautiful girl beloved by so many people because of her kindness and innocence. Even the animals loved her. After Cinderella’s mother passed away, her father remarried another woman with two daughters. Her identity remained unknown. The story called her Lady Tremaine. Cinderella’s stepmother was nice to her at first. She had shown that she was kind, caring, and treating Cinderella like her own kid. Cinderella thought so too. But after her father passed away, Lady Tremaine began to take down her perfect mask of a good person for so many years to return to her real character, which was mean, crucial, and evil. She acted like she was nice to Cinderella to please her late husband. But in fact, she hated Cinderella to the gut. The reason why was that perhaps Cinderella was so perfect and so beautiful. And her daughters were not like her. Lady Tremaine began to make Cinderella a maid serving her and her daughters. Cinderella didn’t mind at all. She did what Lady Tremaine and her stepsisters told her to do without questioning anything. Cinderella’s innocence made her become a tool for them to control. One day, the royal opened a ball and invited every girl in the country to attend to help the prince to get married. Lady Tremaine’s family was also invited. She understood that with the beauty and the characters of her daughters could not have a chance to be a princess. But at least she still had a high hope. Cinderella was also invited to attend the ball. Lady Tremaine understood that with the appearance of Cinderella, her daughters could not have a chance to be a princess. Lady Tremaine saw Cinderella’s handmade dress and ripped the dress off with her daughters. Now, Cinderella didn’t have the dress to attend the ball.

The evilness of Lady Tremaine was put on the highest level when she locked Cinderella in her room to prevent her to try on the glass slipper when the ambassador came to their house and asked them to try on the slipper as the request of the prince after he danced with a strange girl the night before. Unfortunately for Lady Tremaine, she didn’t know that Cinderella had another slipper after she broke the glass slipper from the ambassador. Lady Tremaine can be considered the image of every evil stepmother nowadays. She didn’t need to show the fear on her face but only with some actions and her voices were enough to scare the hell out of anyone. Her sharp look shows that she has many evil schemes in her mind. And she is the kind of person who will not mind anything to get what she wants. There are many rumors that I heard about this character. She probably killed Cinderella’s father to get all the properties and fortunes from him. What do you think? In Cinderella’s live-action in 2015, Cate Blanchett successfully portrayed the image of Lady Tremaine as a beautiful woman. Her face shows the evilness and the manipulation of a woman with infinite greed. Lady Tremaine may be one of my favorite villains in Disney animated films.
