The race for Speaker of the House had ended and I thank God for that. It was getting hotter than ever when the House has yet to find out who can precede Nancy Pelosi. In the end, after the 15th ballot, Kevin McCarthy of California is the 55th Speaker of the House. But here is the thing. McCarthy, if he ever achieves anything as the House Speaker, he will not be remembered for what he did. Instead, he will be remembered the failure after 15 voting rounds at the House. That will be his legacy for sure. The House Republicans have turned the House Floor into a circus, which Fox News Anchor said on his Tuesday January 3rd show that 188 Congress and House Republicans are on the verge of a clown show. The Republicans begin to divide.
For the first time, I had to agree with Hannity on that thought. The day Republicans elected the Speaker of the House turned into chaos, as they failed to agree on the simplest of tasks to run the House after Republicans won a majority in the House of Representatives.

A rough road for McCarthy.
Soon after the holiday season, Congressman Kevin McCarthy of California moved into a new office at the headquarters on Capitol Hill. The office previously belonged to Pelosi, but McCarthy cannot change the title on the door. I made a little joke. Before Nancy Pelosi left the Speaker seat, she casted a deadly spell on that seat which the Republican would take a hard road before taking that seat. She was success.
The Republicans made McCarthy's dreams of holding the gravel in the House of Representatives evaporate for 15 voting rounds. They kept going against McCarthy, which made him go nuts for sure. In both rounds of voting in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, McCarthy won only 203 votes, even less than Democrat Hakeem Jeffries, who had 212 votes. It was the first time in a century that the US House of Representatives failed to elect a speaker on the first ballot.
The first session of the 118th Congress of the United States took place with Republicans fighting with each other. At the same time, Democrats, who should have been upset about losing their majority in the House of Representatives after the midterm elections, rejoiced at the chaos the Republicans had created.
The third round of voting was even worse when Congressman Jim Jordan of Ohio stood up to nominate McCarthy for speaker of the House after 19 Republicans responded by voting for Jordan to take the position, even though he didn't want to. To become the new speaker of the House, McCarthy needs at least 218 votes. This means he can only accept four votes against his party when all 213 Democrats will likely not support him.
The Republican majority in the House and their infighting will be huge influencers for the 118th Congress. It not only creates an opportunity for Republicans to prevent McCarthy from winning the race for Speaker of the House, but it also risks that the House could come to a standstill with just a few votes if Republicans could not agree with each other. This scenario will make the White House worry about imminent difficulties for the government budget bill, including the goal of raising the public debt ceiling.
The Democrats were Laughing.
When the House Republicans put on a good show, the only audience were the Democrats. They must enjoy the show a lot. Representative Ted Lieu posted a photo of himself holding popcorn and ready to get into the chamber on Twitter. Actually, he had all the rights to do it. I don't know if the Republicans knew that they were live on the national television but everyone were watching them and only thing came out of my mind was a bunch of idiotic GOP.
The chaos within the Republican Party was also an opportunity for Democrats to send the message that the party is unfit for power and should be eliminated at the opportunity. The fourth round of voting will allow McCarthy to show he can control his party and bring order to the House, even if the road ahead remains uncertain. Maybe after a day of infighting, Republicans would realize that they risk wasting their precious majority in the House of Representatives.
The longer the infighting in the race for Speaker of the House drags on, the deeper the Republicans were in a position of "shooting themselves in the foot" despite their victory over their opponents in the midterm elections two months ago. It's already happened.
Chaos within the Republicans.
The 118th Congress session was a circus for sure. It was also another version of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. But it was the politics version. I must praise the tireless work of C-SPAN for putting that circus into another level.
I could see that the Republicans kept talking to each other, discussing things, and none of them agreed on anything. I must say that they were really "united". If they want to agree, they will agree all. If they don't, they won't. With the winning of McCarthy as the Speaker of the House, the Republicans have divided. From now on, whatever they vote on, there will be some disagreements.
And talking about disagreement, the person took the spotlight would be Matt Gaetz. There would be nothing to say if he didn't keep voting no on McCarthy. Then, like a father to his son after he did something bad at school, daddy needed to teach his son a lesson. McCarthy confronted Gaetz and at a moment, I thought he would jump right in and punch Gaetz. Thank God that didn't happen. Besides, the Republicans must have been so mad at Gaetz so as soon as he made a speech, they did a walkout.
Oh, that's right. I almost forgot to mention. There was a smaller elephant in the room. Of course, that elephant didn't appear in the House chamber. But the appearance of the elephant was brought up by Gaetz. Sweet Lord, Gaetz shouted out "Donald John Trump" as a nominee for the Speaker of the House. I was speechless when I watched the video. I really felt sorry for the people that Gaetz represents. He is a dumb. The mention of Donald Trump made me think that his influence on the Republicans will never go way no matter how much they try. He will still be there. His supporters inside the government will never go away. I bet that they still believe Donald Trump won the 2020 election.
Conclusion.
What happened at the 118th Congress session raised me a question. What kind of country are we living in right now? We have seen everything in that chamber. There was no solidarity at all. They bit each other, fought each other, and made fun of themselves. It is disgusting to me. It was like they didn't have a respect for that seat or for the Constitution. All of those representatives inside that chamber represents your people who trust and vote for you to lead them. And yet, after 15 voting rounds, hours and hours of chaos, they have turned the House chamber into a big circus where people can watch for free. Shame on them!
Now, McCarthy is the 55th Speaker of the House. I don't want to congratulate him because I don't think that he is fit for that seat. But all I want to say is that whatever he does or his fellow Republicans do, don't let it happen like the 118th Congress session again. It is enough. The United States of America is facing with so many different crisis. We need the solidarity more than ever. One more time, SOLIDARITY. It is not the time to blame who's right or wrong, what's good or bad. It is the time to work together to save the U.S., get it out of the mud of crisis, and bring back the position of the U.S. back to where it belongs.
