Past does not sleep until you kill it. That is what I think after watching Last Night In Soho. I have waited until my birthday to watch this movie and it is one of the best movies of 2021 as well as the best thriller movie so far in my life.

Last Night In Soho has a simple plot but it twisted your mind in every single second, beautiful cinematography, nostalgic production design bringing everyone back to the 60s, style costume design, and wonderful acting from the cast. But what special about this movie is the time-traveling. Edgar Wright had balanced perfectly between the past and the present that both could support each other to untie the knot.

It is not like Back To The Future or Looper, every single time traveling in Last Night In Soho happened in the vision of Eloise, a fashion student coming to London. Eloise had a special ability that she could see things that normal people could not see. It seemed like a gift until it turned to be her worst nightmare. She saw visions about a girl named Sandie and a man named Jack. At first, Eloise admired Sandie because of her style which had inspired her to design in her class, of her beauty that made Eloise change her hair. Then, there were multiple ghosts starting to appear in her life. Wtf is that? What is behind it? I knew but I won’t spoil it.

The performance of Thomasin McKenzie is superb and significant. She is definitely a rising star. But the real star is Anya Taylor-Joy. If you have watched The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix or Split, her face will be familiar to you. Each character that she performed had depth, a story, complexity, and this movie is not an exception. But this time, Joy had thrown away all the images of a sweet girl to be a different character. She understood the assignment and she rocked this role. It is a fun watch. Highly recommended!
