Little Fires Everywhere is one of the best TV series in 2020. Recently, I rewatched the show again and my emotion about this show is still the same. For the first time ever, I watched something that I don’t hate any the character. I sympathize with them because each one of them represents a personality in our real life. Based on the novel by Celeste Ng, Little Fires Everywhere is about mothers and their family, where there are happiness and misery that make them regret. I must say that in the position of a mother and a wife, they always have to take care of every little thing in the family to make sure it is a picture perfect so that everyone can look at and say. “I love your family so much.”

Elena Richardson is that mother and wife. Since she has a happy family, all she has to do is preserving it and making it more perfect than ever. Her family is the thing she’s proud of and that’s why Elena never let anything to ruin the face of her family. Even her family member. But unfortunately, Elena made a mistake when she turned her children and her husband in her puppets which they can never live like they want, or try to do things more different than her mother’s expectation, or think about doing it. They can only do it behind her back. In Elena’s vision of the family’s picture perfect, it is that her kids have a good education and get into the most honorable universities; that her husband is someone important to the society and having a high-respected career which people admire; that she is a good woman in everyone’s eyes; and that no one is gay in her family. Everything that Elena Richardson did in this show doesn’t make me hate her. I just love her more because I can see myself in her and somehow I want to be like her. At least, Elena dares to do what she thinks the best for her family.

Mia Warren is different. She is a single mom who just moved to the town. Mia has secrets that she cannot tell her daughter, Pearl, but she always take care good of Pearl no matter what. Mia is a type of mother that overprotects her children and hides things from them when they deserve to know. The slogan of Little Fires Everywhere is “every mother has regrets”. Yes, maybe Elena and Mia are different in so many ways and enemies fighting over a baby. But they both have regrets in life that they wish they can fix but it is too late.

Little Fires Everywhere means that a little spark of flame can make up a big fire and burn things down easily. Explaining why things have to burn down, in the book, there is a part talking about it. There was a burning in a forest and magically, after the burn, new things grew up and more beautiful than ever. They were reborn. Little Fires Everywhere is a show that you must watch because you can see yourself in it. Highly recommend
