Last Year, The Supreme Court Made A Terrible Decision

What did I do on June 24, 2022? I was sitting at LAX waiting for my flight back to Vietnam to visit my family after 7 years. Actually, I planned this trip in 2020, but because of Covid, I moved back to 2 years later. I remember it was around 11 a.m. I was on Facebook and scrolling through every news feed. Then, Fox News, CNN, and Washington Post sent me the notification simultaneously. I looked at them and was shocked to the core by what I just saw. The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, which had sent the U.S. back in time.

Outside the Supreme Court on June 6, the day I visited D.C.

To make it into a clearer picture, I have to remind you of an event that happened a month before that shocking news. There was a leak on the Supreme Court decision about banning abortion by overturning Roe v. Wade. It is said that the fate of Roe v. Wade was settled. It had raised the outrage among many Americans, including me. I could not believe what I read at that moment. I asked myself a question. Whatever happened to the U.S., my beloved country? It made me concerned about the life of every girl and every woman in this country. It created trauma and fear for sure. Even though Roe v. Wade was overturned, it doesn’t mean all the states banned abortion. Only conservation states made it possible soon after the overturn. I see nothing but negative things in this overturn.

You have to imagine this. 50 years ago, the Supreme Court was full of male justices. They decided to protect the right to abortion and made it legal under the Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment. It was such a big jump for the U.S. into the modern world. But then, somehow, many conservatives wanted to send America back in time, which meant they wanted to destroy the fundamental freedoms of this country. Soon after the overturn, many big companies stepped up to help female employees who wanted abortions by covering their trips and abortion fees. Many workplaces and schools around the country also provided help. There is still a sign of kindness, after all. The overturn of Roe v. Wade created two things that I think are disgusting.

1. It indirectly legalizes rape:

There is no doubt that I dare to speak up on this sensitive topic. However, you have to look at the truth. Many rape cases occurred in this country, and the victims got physical and mental scars. They had to live in fear and shame. And in some cases, they got pregnant at a very young age. The healthcare system in this country is such a joke. They don’t protect the lives of single mothers and their children enough. Here is a case scenario, what if a family member raped that young girl? Can they get the right to abortion? Not anymore, because Roe v. Wade had been overturned. It had made rape become a necessary action, like an opportunity for all the rapists to put out their dicks and do the horrible crime. After the rapists were caught, they could say that they had helped the girls they raped to get pregnant. That is so disgusting. But it happened. After all, the rapists stayed in prison, and the victims lived in shame and darkness. It is funny, though. They blamed the victims more than the rapists. You see, having an abortion can help every girl who has been pregnant after being the victim of rape have hope in her life. There are so many goals and plans ahead of them. And yet, it is all stopped. Let them have the choice and the voice. Don’t stop them!

2. It makes no sense at all:

Ok, hear me out. One thing occurs in this country every year, and yet, no one does anything to stop it. It is gun violence. You have to agree with me on this thing. So many massacres happened in this country. The main victims were children at school. You cannot deny that fact. But they didn’t do anything to prevent it. Guns kill people. The 2nd Amendment has made guns easier to access. Whenever a bill makes access to guns more difficult, it will face prevention from the GOP. That is unacceptable. All they do after every massacre is send thoughts and prayers. Come on, if thoughts and prayers could bring the dead one back, I would have prayed more. But it didn’t happen. It suddenly makes me think of one thing. They cared more about the fetus than the children after birth. GOPs made all kinds of laws to make abortion illegal. But they didn’t make guns harder to access. GOPs are a bunch of ignorant people. They just don’t care about the life and the freedom of people at all. They will do anything to go against the “woke” ideology. It doesn’t make any sense. I can sum it up like this. Since the massacre happens every year and kills so many people, the GOPs need more babies in this country whenever how that baby is conceived. That is so sick to think about

After one year, the overturn of Roe v. Wade is still a big failure in this country. Why did the Supreme Court ever want to do it when the healthcare for women in this country is such a joke? Abortion is no longer about women’s health. It is about the freedom of women. They have the right to do whatever they want to their bodies. They have the right to choose what to do. They have the right to access healthcare. They have the right to live. Abortion is healthcare. Abortion is freedom. Abortion is a fundamental right for every woman. If the Supreme Court made it legal 50 years ago, let it be. Why did the Supreme Court today have to overturn it? That’s unacceptable.

Time has changed, yet we have gone back to the past. A significant improvement was made 50 years ago and taken away today. That is not good at all. Look at today. Banning books, against the “woke” ideology, “don’t say gay” bill, against same-sex marriage, etc. What else is on the list?
