One of the things that get the attention of everyone in this indictment is Donald Trump’s body man. His name is Waltine Nauta, a former U.S. Navy petty officer. He is facing 6 charges, including conspiracy to obstruct justice, withholding documents, corruptly concealing documents, corruptly concealing a document in a federal investigation, scheming to conceal, and making false statements and representations. If he is found guilty, Nauta may face 20 years in prison. The question is, “Is it worth it for him?”

Nauta said that he is loyal to Trump, like many MAGA followers. In the indictment, Nauta brought many boxes of classified documents to Mar-A-Largo, and later, he removed 64 boxes from the club’s ground floor storage room and another 30 boxes, as seen on the surveillance video. That is an act of crime when he was trying to cover up for Trump, which I call a “blindfold” loyalty. Poor Nauta! In 2018, Michael Cohen had to go to prison for Trump.
Trump didn’t care for Cohen after he paid Stormy Daniels the hush money.
According to his book “Disloyal,” before working for Trump, Cohen was once a successful lawyer. But after that, it seems like Cohen sold his soul to Trump forever. This guy believed Trump was a great guy because he was a successful businessman. When Trump became the president, Cohen finally realized that his boss was a bad guy. When Cohen was in trouble and went to prison for Trump, where was Trump? Instead, Trump used many wrong verbal attacking Cohen.
Now, it happens the same with Nauta. 20 years in prison is waiting for Nauta if he is found guilty of 6 charges. Until then, what is the price of a “blindfold” loyalty? Trump decided to pay for Nauta’s lawyer, who will represent him in court. But it doesn’t mean Trump and his team will not come up with the best plans to benefit Trump himself, even if they have to put Nauta in prison. The best example is Cohen. Trump will run for president in 2024 and try his best to stay out of prison and avoid any wrong sides that affect him. Now, Nauta may have a lawyer. But he cannot know how much his lawyer, Stanley Woodward, can help him get away with prison time. Probably that lawyer was bought by Trump. So, after all, Nauta is on his own. I feel sorry for him. There are two possibilities that Nauta can do at this moment.
He can flip out immediately and turn Trump in. In that way, he can be reduced the sentences. But it will require him to betray Trump as best as possible. Ouch!
He can trust Trump all the way and meet him in prison. However, if Trump wins the election in 2024, he may pardon Nauta. But the chance he can win the election is less than 10%.
Nauta is standing between the brink of “blindfold” loyalty and saving himself. The choice is him. But I think Nauta should flip out because Trump is not the kind of person he should take the bullet for. That isn’t good. We will find out soon which option Nauta will choose.
