Ghost: When Death Cannot Tear Us Apart

Many people recommended I watch Ghost for a while, but I didn’t want to watch it. I heard it is a movie about love and I wanted to save it to watch with the person I love. Oh my God, why did I think like that at that time and delay watching this incredible movie? It was in the recommendation section in HBO Max. I didn’t know it was there. So I clicked on it and watched. There were so many mixed emotions inside me after I finished. I could understand why this movie was so phenomenal at its release. It is a story about love and death. They usually said till death, tear us apart. But it was utterly wrong in this movie.

Ghost tells the story of a couple. Sam and Molly. They love each other so much. Though this love would last forever, Sam was murdered after seeing Shakespeare’s play. This is a brilliant detail. If you have read Shakespeare, you will know that his plays always contained tragedies and darkness. Molly couldn’t get over the death of Sam, and Sam’s spirit is still in the living world because he discovered many dark secrets that may harm Molly and who killed him. He found Oda Mae Brown, a psychic who can hear the voice of dead people, and asked her to help him to talk to Molly.

Between the dead and the living world, Sam is always there to watch over Molly. His love for her is too big that his spirit cannot go to heaven, and Molly is still mourning his death and wants to hold him with her forever. When Oda comes and tells Molly about her husband, she doesn’t believe it. But when Sam moves the coin, Molly starts to believe that Sam is always there with her. With the help of Oda, they can feel each other and dance under “Unchained Melody,” the song they listened to when they were doing the ceramic together. It is a beautiful love story. The tragedy strikes, but it is not because of that they stop loving each other.

Ghost is a movie that I recommend you watch alone. Ghost is the most realistic picture of what it means to lose someone that you love the most. It is a sad movie and can help you understand that we don’t know what tomorrow may be like; if you have someone to love, love them with all of your heart, make memories, and be happy. Don’t wait until you say “If….” Highly recommend!
