Fox News, a conservative media company, is facing with a lawsuit from Dominion Voting Services. This company supplied voting machines in dozens of states in the U.S. to deliver the news that Smartmatic is owning Dominion. This company had fixed the 2004 election in Venezuela, and they blamed Dominion for stealing and changing the vote for Donald Trump to Joe Biden. On the Dominion’s side, they found no evidence that this company’s voting machine was cheating on the electoral vote. The lawsuit is worth $1.6 billion for defamation. Not a good year for Fox News.

Since Donald Trump lost the election in 2020, Fox News conservative anchors like Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham, or Jeanine Pirro went on to their primetime shows and said one thing only. The election was stolen. Then, they spread unchecked information, conspiracies, many unrelated experts, and Dominion Voting System revolving around the election. Why did they do that? Well, simple. They love Donald Trump. No, they worship him. Then, what happened next was out of their hands. I don't want to bring that tragic day up again. But on January 6th, 2021, many rioters who called themselves "patriots" attacked Capitol Hill, where the lawmakers were trying to approve the presidential of Joe Biden. The rioters didn't accept the election result and believed Trump won. I always called those rioters "a bunch of morons” because they didn't know what they were doing. Trump said he would walk them to Capitol Hill to stop the approval. And the result? He stayed at the White House and watched the mob storming into Capitol Hill. He couldn't expect things to go far away like that. Besides the encouragement of Trump and his family, Fox News was also an essential element. They didn't support the action of the rioters.

However, after what happened, three Fox News hosts, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and Brian Kilmeade, sent a text to Trump's Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, to tell Trump to call out to stop the attack. Ingraham wrote a message. "Mark, the president needs to tell people in the Capitol to go home. This is hurting all of us. He is destroying his legacy." Unfortunately, it was too late for that. They should have stopped Trump from spreading out lies about the election. It was too evident that they let Trump destroy his own "legacy." Was there any legacy of him at all? I don't think so. Return to Fox News' lawsuit, there is only one reason for them to spread lies on the election. It is because the viewers of Fox News are conservatives and Trump supporters. So, they must go on to say good things about Trump, especially after he lost the election.

Every MAGA follower was angry at the result and needed someone to back up the lies that Trump told during the election. Fox News needed to jump in immediately. They did that to gain more viewership and wanted to retain their supporters. If you watched and followed Fox News during the Trump administration, you must have seen how the hosts usually said good things about Trump and idolized him. They understood the assignment here. The more they brought Trump into the mainstream and praised him, the more viewership would gain. It is nothing new. Liberal media glorifies liberals. Conservative media praises conservatives. Once they say the primary goal of their delivery, they will stick with that concept forever.

Fox News founder, Rupert Murdoch, must feel disappointed with what happened to his media company. This is not the first time Murdoch had to face controversy like this. Before, he had to deal with Roger Ailes, the late Fox News executive who sexually harassed many women after they spoke up. Murdoch had to pay Ailes much money to let him go and indemnify the victims. Now, with this lawsuit that is worth $1.6 billion, Murdoch must be crazy right now. He didn't like how Fox News anchors talked about the election and wanted them to move on from Trump's loss. I had watched the docuseries "The Murdochs: Empire of Influence,” and until now, I couldn't stop thinking about the influence of Murdoch in the news industry. From newspaper to broadcast, he changed how people watched and read forever. I'm impressed. Even though he is a businessman, he is a true journalist. I feel sorry for him when his beloved child, Fox News, faces trouble like this.

If a news company only sticks with its political view, it will not be journalism. When doing a story, it must be from both sides. So that the readers or the viewers can understand what is going on. I agree that Fox News needs to keep on the viewership, but unfortunately, they did it so wrong. Deep inside the anchors, they understood it was wrong, but they continued with lies and conspiracies. Trump must have a profound impact on them right now. How sad. I love watching some Fox News segments like Hannity, Ingraham, or Pirro when they do commentary shows because they usually have many deep analyses and good information. But Fox News needs to stop telling lies or spreading out conspiracy. That will kill Fox News.
