Today, April 18th, Fox News and Dominion settled the defamation lawsuit for $787.5 million, instead of $.16 billion that Dominion had called before. But you know what they said. Better than nothing. Over $700 million from Fox News will belong to Dominion after this media company kept on going with lies on television after the 2020 election when more viewers were tuning in. Rupert Murdoch, the man behind everything, wanted to keep the flow of lies from guests and hosts because what they said could keep the viewers from changing channels. I believe that hosts and guests themselves may have felt uncomfortable doing that, and they knew that what they said on Fox News was wrong. But then I think. Did they?

All of Fox News hosts loved doing that as long as they kept the conservative voice inside them. There is no doubt that they called themselves the most trusted news network in America. “America is watching/America is engaging/America is posting/America is streaming/America is listening/America is sharing.” Those are what appears in Fox News app when you open. But let’s go back to the word “America.” Fox News seems like love this word so much. Like other Americans, they love America and they put America first. What they doing only aims at one thing that they believe they are doing it good. Protecting the democracy of America despite they have to go against the liberal and flatter about Trump. There is no denying that Trump made Fox News more famous during the time he was the president of the United States. He often appeared on every primetime show of Fox News, praised himself with his achievement in his administration and sometimes criticized the Democrats. That was the main point of attracting the viewers. With Trump as the presidents, it was like Fox News had the right to talk about whatever they wanted on television without getting in trouble. Meanwhile, other liberal media outlets had to do a little “ fact-check “ section because Trump started the war on fake news.
The golden age of Fox News died with the presidency of Trump. They all thought that Trump would win the 2020 election. But he didn’t. It was a big slap to Fox News. They had to come up with something else to keep the viewership stable and not changing the channel. What would be the best solution for that? Hmmm, how about spreading lies and conspiracy about the 2020 election that it was stolen and cheated? That sounded good. But how would they do that? Simple. Inviting a bunch of guests who had no experience and knowledge about politics and election come to the primetime shows to bragging, screaming, and telling lies. Fox News hosts continued to show their support to Trump, their only leader. And it came to the time Fox News had to pay the price for what they said on television.
The words came out of your mouth is hard to take it back. Even though right now the settlement has reached $787.5 million (and probably, Fox News may go bankrupt after this in some way), there will be no public apology from Fox News. Maybe they thought that money is an apology. Unfortunately, this is not the end for them. There is one more lawsuit coming. A $2.7 billion defamation lawsuit filed by Smartmatic, a voting technology company, alleges Fox broadcast lies that “decimated” its business. Not a good year for Fox News. Oh, I just found out something really interesting. Trump went to court, Fox News went to court. Trump is facing trial, Fox News has not done with trial yet. The downfall of Trump is the downfall of Fox News. We will see how Fox News will be in the future because America is watching.
