Last night, I rewatched one of my favorite movies about gay love. Call Me By Your Name. The movie is based on the novel written by André Aciman (I confessed that I watched the movie before I read the book. Now I feel guilty). I must say this movie is perfect for anyone who is desperate in love or finding love or madly in love because it told a story of hope, love, and desperation.

Elio is a 17-year-old boy who met Oliver, Elio’s father’s assistant, in his house and soon, there is a special relationship between them beginning to grow up inside both of them. Call Me By Your Name is a love story of two men but it is more beautiful when Elio’s father has known about his son’s relationship with Elio not working out but he did not freak out, instead, he supported his son and told him to learn from grief and grow. I must say the performance of Timothee Chalamet is superb and amazing. It is convinced and it melted the heart of many audience.
The plot is simple but it moves all the time. It doesn’t have any climax. The rhythm is slow but steady. It helps the audience to see the development of love in the realest way and in the end, they can find out the answer and the feeling for Elio and Oliver. Not only the story, the movie gives us the beauty of Italy with many sceneries. Call Me By Your Name touches the emotion of the audience in every way so that people can have different views on the LGBT community on how hard it is for them to express themselves and to find love. It is like a journey.
Nowadays, the LGBTQ community may have voices and their same-sex marriage right. But the prejudice and the hate are still there. It is like a circle with no ending. But you know what, I admire them. I admire their courage, their confidence, their life, and their love for their partner. They love each other for real and stand for each other no matter what happens. They dare to live with who they are no matter what might happen to them because they have the pride and I love it. Let celebrate their story, open our heart to understand them because after all, we are human beings and we have a heart. Highly recommend!
