Best Looks of The Met Gala 2023

On Monday, May 1st, Vogue and the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute held the annual Met Gala. The theme of this year is Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, which is an occasion to honor the late designer with many unique designs and his influence in the fashion industry. In the latest issue of Vogue, Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue, said that Karl Lagerfeld was many things. “He was a designer who thrived on attention but also led an intensely private life,” Wintour said.

Lagerfeld’s career expanded through his work for Chanel, Chloe, Fendi, and his brand, Karl Lagerfeld. In this year’s Met Gala, the main color tones of every design are black and white, which were what Lagerfeld used to emerge into his style before. Vogue streamed the whole event on YouTube, which brought the viewers to many levels of emotions and surprises by surprises. In so many beautiful and extraordinary designs, I must admit that fashion has no boundaries because all the creativity and the glamour that every designer puts into their designs for celebrities have proved it. It can be weird. It can be controversial. It cannot be enjoyable. It can be wrong with the theme. It can be stunning. It can be very memorable. After all, it is the language of fashion in which only people in the industry can understand. Once again, the 2023 Met Gala is filled with all kinds of elements above to show that this gala is not an average event of the year and worth the money that celebrities paid and the time the viewers spent watching.

The Kardashian-Jenner sisters, Kim, Kendall, and Kylie, were at the Met Gala this year despite the rumor that they were not invited. But unfortunately, the sisters didn’t have the night’s best looks. Kim was wearing an all-pearls dress from Maison Schiaparelli’s haute couture. Kylie wore a red gown by Haider Ackermann, and Kendall wore Sequin Marc Jacobs Bodysuit. Again, Lil Nas X made the headline with sparkling silver body paint and millions of bejeweled crystals and pearls all over his body. Doja Cat turned into a cat with Oscar de la Renta’s silver hooded gown with cat ears, and Jared Leto became Choupette, Lagerfeld’s cat. Nicole Kidman wore her iconic dress in Chanel No 5 commercial. Paris Hilton in a black leather dress by Marc Jacobs, who also attended the event with her. Billie Eilish went a punk style in a jet-black tulle look from Simone Rocha. A Twilight reunion with Robert Pattinson in Dior Men, and Suki Waterhouse in Fendi, are in Kim Jones, and Kristen Stewart in a black-and-white Chanel outfit from Karl Lagerfeld’s 2016/2017 Cruise Collection.

But now, I will go through the top 10 best outfits of the night that I believe followed the dress code and are actually very soigné.

Cardi B

She never stops making me jaw-dropping. She entered the Met Gala in a tuxedo-look-a-like black gown filled with big black camellias and a Karl Lagerfeld-inspired grey hairdo. It looked very Chanel and remarkable.

Michelle Yeoh

The Academy Award-winning actress wore a Karl Lagerfeld black-and-white dress with draped sleeves, where a black gown covered a white skirt inside and a black boot. It’s not it. She went to the Met Gala with Pete Davidson, Kim Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend.

She has proved that age is just a number. Glenn Close entered the Met Gala with a stunning ice-blue gown, a ruffled taffeta cape by designer Erdem Moralıoğlu, and a crystal necklace. Glenn Close completely embraced her look from Dangerous Liaison, one of her iconic movies, with many elegant gowns.

The BLACKPINK member stole the hearts of every fan with her simple but unique dress from a 164 re-interpretation look from Chanel’s fall 1990 ready-to-wear collection by Karl Lagerfeld. She completed the look with a white camellia on her hair.

The 2023 Met Gala with the theme “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” ended with many memorable outfits. The ticket to the Met Gala is $50,000 but money is not everything. You have to be invited by Anna Wintour to be there. I guess I will never have a chance to attend that unique event. However, I always love to watch celebrities in many fabulous outfits.
